The Capilano Classic Doubles Tournament returned this past weekend, bringing together 44 players from across Edmonton for a full day of competition and community spirit. The one-day tournament format proved popular among participants, who appreciated the accessibility and energy of the event.
“These one-day tournaments are great,” one player shared. “They’re much easier to fit in a busy schedule.”
The tournament featured both men’s and women’s doubles, with players of varying experience levels teaming up for a fun and competitive day on the courts. Off the court, players enjoyed great food and the chance to connect with others, making the event as much a social gathering as a competitive tournament.
“It’s great to see the tennis community in Edmonton come together for some friendly competition at this tournament,” said Miranda, Board President of the Edmonton Tennis Community. She also reflected on her own experience: “As someone who always plays with guys, it was nice to play with and against only ladies for a change.”
With its blend of spirited matches, great food, and strong camaraderie, the Capilano Classic continues to showcase how grassroots tennis in Edmonton is thriving.
