TENNISfest a Triumph

June 22nd, 2022

What does a huge hall filled with adapted size tennis courts, 32 red ball courts and 10 sponge ball tennis to be exact, look like? It looks like TENNISfest 2022, a one-day free event that invited more than 300 adults and children to experience the joy of playing tennis.

“Try tennis events of this scale enable the Albertan tennis community to promote and showcase the many benefits the sport of tennis provides,” comments Alan Mackin, Tennis Alberta Executive Director. “We thank all club and community partners for your support in the lead up to and during this event. A special thank you is extended to Karina Trkulja, Executive Director for the Edmonton Junior Tennis Society for the time and commitment devoted to this initiative.”

Explore Edmonton generously donated the use of the Edmonton EXPO Centre. Tennis Edmonton led the adult try sponge ball tennis sessions. The St. Albert Tennis Club, Saville Community Sports Centre, Royal Glenora Club and Garneau Tennis & Beach Volleyball Club were all in attendance to connect with the community.

Tennis Alberta extends gratitude to Dave Ross for providing photographic assistance, and Celestia Swift for volunteering at our booth. Thank you to all the partners for their energy and support. Tennis Alberta, together with local community partners, continues to support grassroots and community programming including Try Tennis events across the province. Stay tuned for more Try Tennis events coming this summer.
