On May 6, École Campbelltown was filled with energy, laughter, and plenty of tennis action during our special One Day Tennis Program in partnership with Tennis Alberta and Tennis Canada, running from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Over four fun-filled hours, Grade 3 and 4 students had the opportunity to try tennis through engaging drills, games, and mini-challenges – many for the very first time! The event sparked a newfound love for the sport, showing just how powerful one day of play can be in inspiring a lifelong passion for movement and fitness.
The kids’ enthusiasm was contagious—from curious beginners to natural athletes, every participant brought a burst of energy and excitement. We’re excited to welcome both new and growing players into our summer programs!
"This past week, we were thrilled to welcome Tennis Alberta and Edmonton Junior Tennis Society (EJTS) to our school to lead introductory workshops with our Grade 3 and 4 classes. Throughout each 50-minute session, students were actively engaged as they explored a new sport. The instructors provided clear, age-appropriate guidance and created a supportive environment that helped all students feel comfortable as they learned new skills. It was a fantastic experience for both students and staff, and we look forward to the opportunity to work with Tennis Alberta and EJTS again in the future.”

“A huge thank you to EJTS and Tennis Alberta for coming out to Ecole Campbelltown to teach tennis lessons to our Grade 3’s & 4’s. The students had a fantastic time learning new skills, being active, and having fun! Your enthusiasm and support made a big impact, and we truly appreciate the time and effort you gave to make it such a positive experience.”

The One Day Tennis Program is a mobile tennis outreach initiative we proudly offer to schools across Edmonton. Designed to be inclusive and accessible, it gives children the chance to experience tennis in a fun, low-pressure setting. Tennis fosters confidence, sportsmanship, physical literacy, and mental focus. It’s a fantastic way to introduce kids to a sport they can enjoy for life.
We are incredibly grateful to Heather Powers, Tennis Alberta’s Community Programs Coordinator, for providing keychains for the children. We also distributed information about our upcoming summer tennis programs as we have some amazing camps and lessons coming up! A huge thank-you to Tennis Alberta as well for generously supplying all the equipment that brought this event to life in the school gym.
This day wouldn’t have been possible without the energy and dedication of Coach Peter and AnaMaria, who led the drills with enthusiasm and skill. They helped improve the children’s coordination and physical literacy while keeping the fun front and center. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff and vice principal at École Campbelltown, as well as parent volunteer extraordinaire Letitia Dempster, for making the event such a success!
