June 21st, 2025

On Saturday, June 21, the Edmonton Tennis Community (ETC) launched its first outdoor tournament of the 2025 season at the outdoor Greenfield Tennis Club. Despite the overcast weather, spirits were high as adult players gathered for a fun and competitive day of doubles tennis.

The tournament featured a flexible Co-Ed doubles format where participants registered with a partner of their choice, creating a more personalized and team-focused experience. A total of 32 players took part in the event, representing a wide range of ages and skill levels. ETC continues to promote inclusive, community-driven events that make space for both casual players and seasoned competitors alike.

For some, it was their first time competing at Greenfield Tennis Club, while others have made ETC’s Greenfield tournament a yearly tradition. The upbeat, friendly atmosphere quickly got everyone into the groove. With top-notch courts and seamless organization, the day flowed effortlessly, letting players focus on the action and bring their best to every match.

Adding to the sense of community, ETC treated all participants to pizza! A well-earned reward after several rounds of spirited competition. The post-match meal gave players a chance to relax, refuel, and connect with fellow tennis lovers off the court.

Volunteers were instrumental in helping the event run smoothly, supporting everything from setup and check-in to timekeeping and court assignments. Their efforts helped make the day both fun and well-organized.

With more outdoor events on the way this season, ETC looks forward to continuing to grow a vibrant, welcoming tennis community across the city — one match (and one slice) at a time!
