ETC Brings TryTennis to Dunluce School

The Edmonton Tennis Community (ETC), in collaboration with Dunluce School, proudly hosted a ‘TryTennis’ initiative as part of the launch of its new Northside Edmonton location. The goal of the event was to give students and children in the surrounding community the opportunity to experience tennis for the very first

time in an engaging space designed to make learning tennis fun.

The TryTennis session took place alongside the first day of lessons for the Dunluce School Level 1 Winter Program, creating an exciting and energetic atmosphere on court. In addition to registered participants, a total of 10 extra children joined in to try tennis, highlighting the strong interest and curiosity from students eager to explore a new sport.

Led by ETC Coach Jasmine, the session featured engaging, age-appropriate activities that introduced fundamental tennis skills such as basic strokes, movement, and coordination. The emphasis was on fun, confidence-building, and inclusion, ensuring that every child—regardless of prior experience—felt comfortable and supported throughout the session.

Parents in attendance shared how much they enjoyed watching their children try a new sport and build confidence on the court. Many parents enthusiastically joined in by helping collect tennis balls, clapping, and cheering each time their child made contact with the ball. The positive energy extended beyond the court, creating a supportive and encouraging environment where not only the kids were engaged, but the parents as well.

The successful introduction of tennis at Dunluce School marks an important step in ETC’s continued efforts to grow the sport across Edmonton. Thanks to the partnership with Dunluce School, the dedication of ETC coaches, and the involvement of families, more children now have access to quality tennis programming close to home. ETC looks forward to continuing to build connections within the community and welcoming even more young players onto the court in the future.
